We are having fireworks go off during the reception when we kiss.
A firework display would definitely give the "extra pop"
hey the artist idea sounds great & they are not generally that expensive & considering it is your wedding & the artist will get a lot of work they might lower the fee per head :o)
I dont know how pop this is hehe but my hubby & I's favourite band is The Foo Fighters so we bought Siamese Fighting fish & used them as our table centerpieces (seperate bowls!!) with a little sign that said something silly like "Hi my name is Foo, I am not for eating, just for looking" lamei know but htey looked totally awesome on the tables!! You could hire an aquarium?
My sister had a massive dolphin ice sculpture but it took just an hour for the thing to melt.
I was looking into having a butterfly cage. They are so amazing & its not like the traditional butterfly release as they butterflys are in large cages & are just lovely to look at. Unfortunately the place was booked so we missed out!
We also had disposable wedding cameras on each table (the pics our guests took are hialrious!!!) everyone had such a great time taking funny pics. That was an ebay buy. Well priced too.
I guess balloons arnt really that special but you can get some huge designs that look really cool.
I was at a wedding a few years ago where the Groom was Italian and the Bride Native. All the men got little leaning towers and the women dream catchers.
a photo booth sounds like a great idea. also, an ice sculpture in/by a big punch bowl would be a nice touch. maybe a fireworks display later in the evening, give em a little razzle dazzle. basically, go nuts on entertainment items (but don't go over your budget)
good luck with your wedding, hope you have many happy years together
We are considering hiring a character artist to do those silly cartoon drawings of our guests during the cocktail hour when we are having our photos done. Maybe you could try that?
There was a wedding where I work where they rented a jukebox instead of having a DJ. The rental company had a selection of CDs, and/or you could load it with your own. They charged a fortune for delivery and pick up, but offered the option of picking up and returning yourself.
well for the cost of renting the photo booth... hire a characterure artist to do portraits of your guests... like beach boardwalk type pics.
How about donating a small amount to charity in each person's name and leaving a certificate with their name at their place setting?
Any idea you get here won't be unique or special. It has to be something you think of on your own, that has special meaning.
have a limo transport guests from the church to the reception and back to church or hotels...
