He kind of befuddles me.
I'm about to start on his journal (translated to English) and I read a few quotes to begin with.
"Life well spent leaves a happy death."
"I have wasted my hours/ I thought I was learning to live, when really I was learning to die."
The latter quote might've been a positive one, but still- I'm confused.
Can anyone confirm this for me the best they can?

Leonardo De Vinci, as great as he was, was a human being that had emotions and swaying thoughts.
Perhaps there were points in his life where he felt his work was not appreciated and misunderstood, causing the thoughts that led to that second quote.
We as a people should not idolize other PEOPLE to the point that they have completely overcome things "mere mortals" have to go through.
example: Martin Luther King cheating on his wife.
