People should always turn to God...not only in their time of loss but always..even in good times and bad times..God is our Creator and He truly cares for us, He is always watching us, reading our minds, He knows our future and He knows everything about us.
some people don't realize this, sometimes people forget God...and then when they face some calamity,or lose something or someone they loved, they suddenly realize that even if no one is there with them God is still with them...cuz God never leaves us, we leave Him sometimes... then people turn to God feeling guilty..
that moment of loss can bring some people closer to God, then they make time to discover God more, while others choose to do the opposite they question God why they lost their loved one then they feel angry and lose faith in God..they think God does not care, so many choose to turn into atheists...but truth is God cares, but often some people don't realize this..
when you lose something or someone you love alot, at that moment, we should be patient and not become angry or lose faith in God...we should be patient and know it's a test..
Some people pull closer to God in hard times and others develop hatred for him when things get tough, blaming him for their misfortune. To be able to turn to God when things are bad is a good thing. Some people Love God when things are good and turn on him when things suddenly go bad.
The hard times remind us that we are not alone and we really do need God. We need those times, I believe, to be able to prove to God and ourselves that our Love for Him is true.
God is The Way The Truth and The Life He Will Show You The Way and all You have to do is Believe in Him Love Him And His Son Jesus and The Holy Spirit . So when a person close to you dies Turn to God for the solace and comfort only he can and will provide. reach out to family and friends as well. help others when you can in their time of need. good life to you and remember your loved ones.
Maybe that person is looking for some kind of comfort or reassurance, I however turn to family and friends for support. Yes, I have lost someone close too, but I didn't turn to god.
As Amie said "Not everyone does this" --which is correct in some cases.

We should trust Him, and His plan..
I didn't.
Why do you make a sweeping, unqualified, generalisation?
We take everything for granted, including God.

god = crutch, it's a comforting lie but comforting nonetheless.
Not everyone does this.

No idea... it's not as if any breed of imaginary space critter can change reality...
Although belief in such critters could change your perception of reality ;)

well like on 9/11 or in fox holes. Seems the only time many have time for God is when their necks are on the line.
Because they feel god can give the strength to overcome their suffering in life.
