I answered a question that the person didn't like, so they reported it. It wasn't even bad... They asked a question about how to ask a question on Yahoo! Answers, and I answered, "Are you kidding me?" They reported, and I lost eleven points. Are these two events connected?

You should have gotten a violation notice in your email and it would tell you on that. But if that was your answer, then it was reported because it wasn't an answer, you asked a question. It takes at least 2 to report for it to get deleted for a violation. If the question seem too far out there, then just pass it by, it would also be considered point gaming. Look at your Activity Details and it tells you immediately what the points + or - are for. You lose 10 points for the violation, and you should have lost 2 points for the answer.
