I have a laptop with Windows Vista so i clicked shut down (all programs were closed) and closed the lid. About 5 minutes later i hear the windows startup sound and opened my laptop. There was a message on my screen that said (windows has just recovered from an unexpected shutdown) so i clicked more information and it said cause: bluescreen. But I didn't see anything happen just my computer restart.
Will this affect my computer? how did this happen?

Usually, some laptops enter "sleep mode" by default when closing the lid.
Maybe the computer tried entering sleep mode when shutting down, hence producing this undesirable and unexpected behavior.
To stop Vista from entering Sleep Mode when closing lid, go to Control Panel -> Power Settings -> Advanced configuration and look there.
I hope this helped,
Leo.
Dear Rob,
Why your computer randomly restarts has most probably nothing to do with the virus and spyware based infections in the system. Rather the errors in Windows registry unnaturally modifying or altering the registry keys settings cause a system to shutdown and restart itself.
A very advanced computer user may be able to go through the registry files and make amendments there to fix PC. However, for layman users it is close to impossible to play with registry since doing something wrong may result in complete PC crash. It is, therefore, suggested for such users to rely on a registry repairing software to fix a computer that restarts randomly.
First of all disable the auto-restart option from your control panel settings so that you can easily work out for the quick fix for computer restarting problem. You can do this by finding the 'SYSTEM' folder inside the Control Panel option. Upon clicking on System folder a properties explorer will pop up. In this explorer windows click on 'ADVANCED' and then uncheck the option 'Automatically Restart'. It will allow you to note down error code, if any.
-- Remove any recently installed maliciously software/add-on or any other application or toolbar. Sometimes there occur software conflicts and the Windows causes computer to randomly restart.
f you have already been experiencing the computer automatic restart and shutdown problem the RegInOut registry cleaner is highly suggested to solve your problem.
reformat will do, if its not then its your hardware committed a heat problem that your system cannot recognize your hardware anymore that causes blue screen error
