--Most economists estimate the stimulus caused job losses

--Most economists have estimated the health care law will worsen the deficit

--The economy is getting worse

--Most scientists do not agree that climate change is occurring

--The stimulus legislation did not include any tax cuts

--Their own income taxes have gone up

--The auto bailout only occurred under Obama

--When TARP came up for a vote most Republicans opposed it

--And that it is not clear that Obama was born in the United States

Most of these questions are subject to debate or use tricky words.... the word "most' is quantitative and not something many people would know regardless of the source of their knowledge....BUT someone who disagreed with the basic premise of the question would not be bothered by the word

In other words the University of Maryland either was sloppy in formulating the survey or specifically wanted a certain response.... a certain result..... kind of a play on the old "Do you still beat your wife?".....

Actually the stimulus bill gave tax credits..... and to the wrong people..... it is formulated on OLD Keynesian economics and useless as an economy stimulus in a globalized world....

My thoughts are that oil is going to be purchased from the Arab world and Venezuela for many years in the future. We are dependent on these countries. They have us by the balls and the government has done nothing to produce renewable energy. Where are the jobs and projects that were to come with this administration so we could use wind power,etc. I haven't seen any surge of wind mills going up anywhere. The republicans want off shore drilling. The liberals are too dumb to realize that if we don't jump on the oil resources off of our coasts, other countries will. The big excuse for the delay is the recent accident. So what, it other countries are out there drilling, they will have the accident. How about the billions of gallons of petroleum that exists on our own continent that isn't being used.

I would like for someone to tell me about what renewable source of energy is being blocked by the republicans. I can't remember any. I only remember Obama running his mouth concerning the programs that he will start with his stimulus package. Your assumption that the republicans are holding up any progress is lame. They just want 'something' whether it is renewable or off shore drilling. I suppose we will have to wait until Obama is hopefully gone in 2012.

Look how much they said they supported the First Responders at Ground Zero! Then they turn around and deny these brave American heros medical and financial help while -- in the very same breath -- protecting the wealthy from paying the additional 2% more in taxes that they used to pay?

Just wondering how you get that impression because nothing could be further from the truth. What conservatives do have a problem with is the government getting involved in deciding what the solutions should be. The free market has proven itself to be the most efficient means of answering these types of problems and the more govt gets involved through regulation, tariffs, etc, the less well the market can function. It is the govt that prevents us from developing domestic nuclear power, a clean alternative to fossil fuel electricity (just ask the French). The govt fouls up nearly everything it touches by distorting the market mechanisms that would move us forward. One great example is the Department of Energy which was formed in the 70's by the Carter administration in response to the first Arab oil crisis. To date it has accomplished nothing that advances our country's energy independence and has soaked up billions in taxpayer dollars like most other wasteful govt agencies.
