Being blind should not be a death sentence. Dogs can function very well with the two senses: hearing and smelling. I have a blind dog in my dog pack I take to the park everyday. She does great, just needs a little direction when going through gates.
Cloudy eyes can have many different causes, just try to stay positive and start looking up how to care for a blind dog. So you can discuss it with your mother if the worst case scenario presents itself.
There truly is nothing like the love and companionship of an animal.
Could be cataracts. Cataracts can be corrected by surgery. If it is overly expensive one eye can be repaired instead of both. A dog with severe cataracts may have limited vision without being completely blind. It only takes a few adjustments to make it work. Do not move furniture or other items in the home. Leave a night light or other light on at night. There is no reason to put a dog down due to cataracts or other causes of limited vision.
If your dog's eye's going cloudy it's probably due to a cataract, especially if he's getting on a bit age wise. If it's just the one eye, then he should still be able to get around alright, had a friend whose dog had the same problem and was perfectly happy. Personally I don't know if there's a treatment for it for dogs, so be sure to ask your vet
As dogs age, their vision decreases. Cloudiness could be glaucoma or cataracts, especially as dogs age. Even if a dog is becoming blind, their quality of life is still good. Even with poor eye sight a dog can get around by feeling and sensing objects
It could just be harmless fatty deposits building up on the eyeball. My 7 year old dog has that, the vets check him out whenever we go in there for his jabs or whatever, they say fat can build up but its not necessarily anything bad. They did say it could be a sign of a problem with the kidneys (i think?) which i believe is treatable.
Yes it could be something more serious with your dog, but you won't know that until the vet takes a look at him. so just be reassured that it might not be anything serious at all.
My dog is quite happy and the cloudiness doesn't bother him at all.
sounds like a cataract, my dog has them in both eyes but she is 11 but wouldnt dream of having her put down for it
