So I just recently bought a wireless router for my laptop. I hooked it up to the desktop and now both computers have high speed internet. Every once in a while thee desktop computer takes forever to go to a site. Why is this, is it because the new router? Also every couple of hours or so one they both lose the local internet connection, after 20-40 mins it works again. WHy is this happening to me???

Several possible options... slow speed could be due to low available memory (unneeded programs running at Windows start-up), virus/malware application(s). Another factor could be your internet provider, and whether the connection is cable or dsl. If you are using a dsl connection that loads from the desktop computer, you would be better off to get an external dsl modem and connect the desktop to the router.
Theres alot of possible reasons, like if you have alot of windows open. Or it depends how much crap is on your computer, try deleting some useless things ^^'. Other then that it might be the website, sites like Facebook, Myspace and Twitter can be really slow, it depends how big the site is, Deviantart is a pretty small site and sometimes its slow because of the adds.
You saide High Speed Internet.. how fast is yours?
Some one other than your family is leeching on your wireless network, maybe a neighbour or so.
Open the Network Tree in the Network and Sharing Center and you sohuld see who all is on our network.
components by using peroity(my very own view factor) : a million) connection speed 2) computing gadget speed 3) viruses (job trys to deliver packets form your computing gadget) 4) torrent downloads 5) downloading information utilising accelator 6) massengers 7) person
