So I just recently bought a wireless router for my laptop. I hooked it up to the desktop and now both computers have high speed internet. Every once in a while thee desktop computer takes forever to go to a site. Why is this, is it because the new router? Also every couple of hours or so one they both lose the local internet connection, after 20-40 mins it works again. WHy is this happening to me???

There are some factors that need to be eliminated to advance in your troubleshooting.
You should start by turning off the laptop to see if the problem persists. If it does, remove the router completely.
If the problem persists, call your ISP (Internet service provider), otherwise the laptop is probably generating a lot of traffic, so you should look at the open programs or consult a technician.
It could also be that you have a microwave near the router or laptop. It could be your neighbors microwave. I fried a laptops wifi card for having my laptop 10 feet away from my microwave. I had to go buy a wifi card because it messed it up.
oh probably bogged down too much sometimes no big deal
