I reformatted my computer about 2 days ago like 9 times in a row because of this problem. It has been working really well since the last time but now it has started with this same problem again. If i right click any icon on my desktop explorer will crash and tell me to restart it. Another thing i noticed is that itunes when in the start menu, like when i pin it to my start menu or if it is in my recently used programs list and i try to open it, same problem will happen. The weird thing is that when i open itunes from within its start menu folder it opens totally fine, like wise for the icon shortcut on my desktop will open it with no problem. So far i have tried uninstalling basically all my windows updates with no success at all. If anyone has any suggestions at all it would be greatly appreciated.
Can email me at [email protected] Thx in advance

Smells like malware to me. Download and run mbam from www.malwarebytes.org and let it sniff things out. If it finds anything, delete, don't quarantine.
try going to a command instantaneous going to start-run then form in CMD. on the command instantaneous form in sfc /scannow. Sfc /scannow will inspect all the significant living house windows documents on your laptop, such as living house windows DLL documents. If device report Checker properly-knownshows an argument with any of those secure documents, it is going to replace it.
try downloading and saving all windows updates in an external hard drives, so when you are done reformatting and installing windows. you can update it without connecting to the internet. most of the time when you hook up to the internet without updating windows. your windows is vulnerable to viruses. use autopatcher.com to download the updates.
autopatcher also offer tweaks that i find useful and make windows less annoying.
Install Vista, or if you don't want to download the program RegCure because that definitely sounds like a registry problem.

EDIT: You may also want to try Tuneup Utilities 2008 instead!

It sounds like explorer.exe (Explorer) is either missing a .dll (Dynamically linked library) or explorer.exe might have a problem itself. If you would like I can send you a good copy of explorer.exe and its components. Let me know. [email protected]
its clustered up. defrag and clean the registry. run a virus check too because im sure you have a virus
if you format your computer better you format all drive. this is also happen when you use non genuin windows...
