Both systems were created by and are run by Man. Thus, both systems, while imperfect, are vastly superior to any other.
I think our republican system works best here in the US.
We need the stability of our system of checks and balances.
What we do need is a complete revamping of the method in which we choose our government. To a great extent, we elect lousy incompetent representatives ( in all houses) because we have to select them from the slate of lousy candidates and political hacks chosen by the power brokers in the two major parties. The chosen candidates owe their allegiance to the party power brokers rather than to the people.
Until. we reform our system of choosing candidates, we will elect incompetent and ofteh dihonest people to office and will continue to have a second rate government and deserve it.
