okay, so my standard tv has the blue red and green cable hook up, but when i put them in and turn on my 360 i dont get a picture, it shows something is there, but it doesnt show my xbox. Any help??

Your standard TV may have Component In, but they are often picky/specific as to what resolution they can read/display.
Just stick to RCA Composite video. Either way, your TV can't display HD resolutions.
I had a similar problem and the thing that fixed it for me is plugging in the RCA audio. The Red and White cables need to be plugged in for some TVs because the Blue, Red, and Green are only video input.
Make sure the switch in the middle of the cable is set to HDTV.
