95 Subaru AC compressor?
95 subaru impreza 1.8Lt. 4 cyc. My AC compressor is shot. My mechanic states that i have to replace the whole AC system which will cost me at least $1300.00. If the AC compressor is the only thing that broke couldnt I just replace the AC compressor myself or do i have to replace the rest of the system (hose,condenser, dehydrator, etc.)?

I'm sure your car has the new freon (R-134a) so all you need to do is get another compressor and put it on , make sure you get a can of a/c oil to put in the compressor when you install it. The reason the shops wont to replace everything is to make the warranty good. they say that they can't warrant the a/c unit if you don't replace all of the other parts. that's bull corn. Do it your self and save a lot of money.
replace the compressor and the o-rings on the 2 hoses that attach to it, recharge the system, should work fine--providing the compressor is the problem.
