I'm looking to buy a used Ford Escape priced at 18k. I'm 20 and have some student loans and credit cards that are kept up with, I dont miss payments and though I don't have a long credit history, what I do have is good. I can't seem to find a place that will work with me without a cosigner. (I'm a server while I'm in school, so my income isn't "dependable") I talked to a place that told me they just needed a cosigner that could show more income on the loan. My fiance is the same age as me, so he's in the same boat, but with no established credit yet.. Could his income on my loan be enough to be approved?

Sorry, but it sounds like you will not get approved for an auto loan. You do not have the income or credit history to buy a car, especially at that price. You would need a cosigner with established credit and income to get an auto loan.

You need three things to get approved without a co-signer:
1) Sufficient income (at least $1,800 per month, provable, or less than 45% total debt to income)
2) Good credit (a good score, minimal deliquency)
3) Good auto history (meaning you've had a car loan before, and have paid on time).
If you're missing one of those things, it's not likely you'll find financing on your own. Your co-signer, moreover, will need to have all three of the above items. If not, it's unlikely they will be a suitable co-signer.

depending on how long youve been at your job, and if you can put a hefty down payment on it, you might be able to find a used car place that might accept you
