it wasnt very helpful during the day but just before bed, it can help. Ibuprofen helps the most with pain. I usually used orajel before bed or nap times they seemed to last long enough to help them fall asleep. During the day it was pretty usless because of drooling and eating and drinking. Try freezie pops dont open them just let them chew on it unless you can help them eat it. Cold washcloths are nice but the same effect as orajel...dosent stay cold long enough unless its frozen but if its frozen it may be too hard for the baby to chew on.
I used baby orajel with my first and using it with my 2nd baby now and I like it. It's enough of a numbing aide to take away the pain and is a good distraction for my baby so he's immediately happy and back to normal after I put just a small amount.
IMO, not really. I would recommend Hyland's Teething tablets, Tylenol or Motrin. It's hard to get the Orajel directly on the sore spots anyway, with all of their drooling and fussing. Also, sticking your finger in a teething baby's mouth can be hazardous - they bite!! :)
i've found if your going to use the gel the nighttime formula last longer. but still has a short effect. the tablets work great. motrin can upset thier stomachs. tylonel works great or a cold frozen wash cloth.

works for about 5 minutes until the numbness wears off from all the drool
I liked the one's that came prefilled in the swabs. Those worked great for my kids, The kind that comes in a bottle never worked for me
I don't think so either... Motrin helps with the pain... and having the baby chew on cold/hard stuff does as well.
from my experince with 2 children who are now 2 yrs old and 10 yrs old, no!!! I did motrin and then a few hours later tyneol....that worked better!!!
it works for a few minutes and then the baby is screaming again. teething tablets are awesome!
