janes_m, you cannot tell the person not to go there. It's the questioner's choice to go there, s/he asked a question about Barbados, and s/he didn't ask "Should I go to Barbados or not?". So please do not tell anyone what to do.
Barbados is great! There is a lot of stuff to do - cultural, sporting events, shopping. There are beautiful beaches, it is safe, and the people are wonderful.
Go to Oistins on the south coast for fish - thursday, friday, or saturday. If there are garden or house tours, I recommend those.
Also visit a rum shop to get a sense of how Bajans live/play. Marshall's on Holden Hill near the west coast is a neighborhood restaurant that has terrific food on the cheap.
My favorite beach is Miami Beach, on the south coast.
St. Lawrence Gap has the best nightlife, there's a small cluster of bars and nightclubs.

Barbados' nightlife is GRRReat. Do check St. Lawrence Gap, they have clubs such as Reggae Lounge, The Ship Inn ( http://www.shipinnbarbados.com/ ) . They also have hotels and restaurants there. Also, do check Boatyard ( http://www.theboatyard.com/ ), and Harbour Lights ( http://www.harbourlightsbarbados.com/ ).
That country has A LOT to offer, A LOT to do, A LOT to see..
The beaches are quite beautiful, cannot resist the aqua/light blue water, and white/sandy sands.
Feel free to check Altantis Submarine ( http://www.atlantisadventures.com/barbados.cfm ) , Harrison's Cave (http://harrisonscave.com/ ), and so on.

Dont go there. Barbados is very overpriced and unsafe at night. You will constantly be bothered by "guides".
