I've finally been adding to my slide collection and hve several glass, a brass, a copper, a porcelain...several metal anyway.
I was fooling around the other day and used a pocketknife blade! Lol cool sound
Copper is a tad too thin for my taste. I like the sustain from brass and wasn't as bright sounding as the steel. Porcelain is smooth. No grit. Don't care for it.
I think all in all I like heavy glass. I've changed my opinion on the several times though. Depends on my mood at the time I guess :P String gauge has a lot to do with it.
Like "hope" says. I've tried 'em all. I've got glass (I make my own) brass, steel, copper, etc. They all have very slightly different tone and feel, but it's very subtle.
If you do a lot of vibrato, then most like a heavier slide. Glass or thick-walled brass.
On my cigar-box guitars, I kind of like the copper (regular plumbing pipe) since the guitars are very light as well.
Experiment... Bob Brozman says he's had the same Mateus bottleneck for about 30 years.
Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top used to play with anything the audience threw up on the stage.....
i like glass, they simply somewhat sound distinctive yet i like the glass sound greater useful. i like the seems of a pitcher slide greater useful. it is going to destroy in assessment to metallic. Yeah glass is somewhat hotter. I even have one among each & i take advantage of glass.

I think that I've tried most types of slides and for my style of playing I prefer heavy brass slides.
I use glass medicine bottle like the one Duane Allman used and Derek Trucks uses. I use a metal one for acoustic
