I had this convo with a really close girlfriend last night and i think i handled the situation wrong... what can i say to later today to make her understand.... This is what went down:
Girl (3:42:57 AM): my other brother, ryan, tried to O.D yesterday.
Girl (3:43:07 AM): and then today, i think nathan's braking up with me.
Me (3:43:26 AM): oh. i'm really sorry.
Girl (3:43:27 AM): so i'm not doing good.
Me (3:43:48 AM): i didn't realize it was that big of deal.
Me (3:44:14 AM): what makes you think that.
Girl (3:45:17 AM): what makes me think what ?
me (3:46:07 AM): you said "and then today I think nathans braking up with me"
girl (3:46:51 AM): he said something.
me (3:47:10 AM): oh. alright. did he get the tattoo?
girl (3:47:22 AM): i think
girl (3:47:34 AM): we haven't really got around to talking about that today.
me (3:47:52 AM): i see.
girl (3:49:06 AM): ye
girl (3:50:48 AM): god. i feel like ******** dying.
me (3:51:18 AM): I'm sorry, wish i could help.
me (3:51:48 AM): but whatever. i'm sure you'll be fine.
girl (3:52:06 AM): yeah. sure

girl (3:53:25 AM): and ryan's my neice and nephew's dad. so that makes it all the worse.
me (3:55:08 AM): I'm sorry.
girl (3:55:31 AM): no. you're very happy for yourself right now.
me (3:55:46 AM): i am not. why would you think that.
girl (3:56:01 AM): cause you love this.
me (3:56:06 AM): i do not!
girl (3:56:31 AM): you don't want me happier with nathan than you are with emily

girl (3:56:41 AM): that's why you try to rub your **** in my face. you love this.
me (3:57:08 AM): what?
girl (3:57:22 AM): nvm. good bye.
me (3:58:09 AM): well, i seriously don't feel that. way. i am worried about you. but think whatever you want.
then she stopped talking to me.
I do really love her a lot, what can i say to her so she know that.

Be honest w/ her. If you aren't good at expressing how you feel, let her know that. Apologize for the way it came off - because at some points in the conversation it sounds like you were disinterested or just not very sympathetic. Let her know how much her friendship means to you, and ask her what you can do to help.

It sounds like you're pushing her feelings aside and saying that you know she's going to get over it. If she's that hurt, I don't think she'll be fine anytime soon. No offense, but it sounds like she doesn't care about what others have to say, as if it's all about her. Maybe you should just try apologizing, but she should also say that she's sorry for having a meltdown like that.
i dont know igther one of you personally but i would say she just wants attention, i would just be there for her and show her you care and let her just settle herself down. just be a good friend and show that you love her and care for her without doing it TOO MUCH because then things will get worse as she craves for more attention so just do your job and be a good friend even if she just tries to turn it all around on you, if anything happens you did nothing wrong then and you were just there for her and she cant argue with that, good luck

i really dont understand..do u love her like a friend or like a wife? either way tell her she really does mean alot to u n u dont wannt her to be unhappy to talk to this nathan kid or take her somewhere that will make her happy or something that will make her better
