If he's about to be seventeen then he's coming up on those about to be a man years. If he really into gaming then chances are you were going to get him a game for his b-day had there been one he wanted right. Well those games are pretty expensive for that same amount of money you can get him something cool that he'll probably like and will definately use.

A nice watch: for the price of one of those games you can get a pretty decent fossil watch.

Cologne: again for that same price you can get a decent sized bottle of cologne.

Or some type of clothing, not a lot of clothes but maybe a nice shirt or pair of jeans.

At seventeen it's cool that he is still into gaming but at some point he needs to start taking an interest in "big boy" toys.

why not maybe get him a laptop? games can be played on there, otherwise a computer? maybe get him a cordless controller but im sure he has that lol. does he have a nintendo wii? maybe give him a gift certificate for some place he really enjoys or for some game place? hopefully my ideas helped!
