Hey - sounds cool. I'll do this to my daughter's BF when they are older!
Oh, and there is no training available to ride like a pro in 6 months.
good balanced diet just go out and ride bout 40 miles with 12 weeks left train about 6 hours a week in hard 1 and a half hour flat out efforts when your in the race just sit on his wheel and attck with about 2 miles to go to train to attach to about 6 5 minutes inteervals out the saddle 100% and maybe some up hill
There alot of web sites for training, just google them. One of the most important things to remember is to keep a high cadence.

I would work up to 25 miles a day then stretch it to 30 then improve on the time. Keep records of how you are doing and eat healthy. There will be some web sites for diets for cycling.
Training is the most important.
cool. it's going to be fun for you!!! I would recommend googling for large cycle races that you know of, the websites usually have training and dietary advice. the other useful source, if you're really interested in it, is lance armstrong's performance program book, in which he details a heap of info on both these subjects. good luck with the race!! http://chris.melville.net.nz/
