Well, the count varies by source - some sources say 3-5 days, others say 7 days (especially in very favorable conditions), others as little as 24 hours.

Sure early ultrasounds are far more accurate in terms of timing conception, but not fool proof. And are you sure the doc meant when the egg was fertilized or when implantation occurred? That would account for the discrepancy.
