I'm trying to put a typing program on this laptop and every program downloads as a DMG file. When I double click the file it says
The following disk image couldn't be opened.
Reason "not recognized".
It says this for every program. How do I open the file to install one of the programs?
Update:Did what you said and it still brings up the warning box. =(
Any other ideas?

Go to spotlight and search, Disk Utility
Click on Macintosh HD on the left sidebar
Click Repair Disk Permissions, then Verify Disk (if it needs repairs click Repair Disk)
After when those are finished restart you Mac and try it again
***EDIT* ok now since that never worked, go to the magnifying glass on the top right corner and type in disk utility, then click File, then Open Disk Image.., then locate the disk image, click open then it should open up with D.U. hope that worked.
strange, are you valuable they ain't taking off? seem at your very own laptop, verify if a brand newpersistent wasn't fixed. modern Mac OS X packing bins are immediately "unpacking" dmg data whilst they have only a single document in it trashing the dmg field. verify if it ain't the case. pass on your downloads folder and verify if the predicted content cloth isn't status there on my own.
