I have been posting in different threads about Pennsylvania have a close resemblance to all three region's it borders (New England, Midwest and the South). For some reason whenever I say PA shows traits from all these regions everyone from Philly automatically goes into denial about the South and Midwest part, almost like by me saying this I am severing PA from some sort of Northeast executive club that it is on the verge of being tossed out of. What give's Philly? Maybe you should take a little ride north or west in your state and you'll see what I'm talking about. It's a hell of alot different than this fiarytale land you are living in. Same goes for Western New York.

Pennsylvania does NOT border New England. It borders New York and Jew Jersey
Parts of PA are very rural and conservative
and parts are urban/suburban and liberal
This makes PA a swing state. Though the urban suburban voters get a slkight edge. This along with is geographic position, puts it squarely in the northeast
as for western NY state, it is in a distinct minority, and slowly losing to the NYC metro area in population
