I get a very weird lag in multiplayer games like GTA IV multiplayer and cs 1.6. In cs 1.6 I cannot hit anyone from a distance, I can hit players only when I am very close to them or camping, I know this isn't internet lag as I have played single player and I get this same lag where I can't hit anyone from a distance. I have been getting this annoying lag since 8 months and I don't know how to fix it. Even in GTA IV multiplayer its nearly impossible for me to hit anyone. I conceptualized this as a hardware problem but I don't know how to diagnose it. Also I used SpeedFan software and I noticed that whenever I run a program, my core 0 and core 1(core 2 duo processor) temperatures immediately jump to 58 C from 40 C no matter what application I am running. Maybe my processor is faulty and its an overheating issue? I don't know how to fix it. Is there anyone who can figure out where the problem might be? I am using a 8400 GS graphics card and here is a screenshot of my SpeedFan temps- [IMG]http://i845.photobucket.com/albums/ab20/gfdfhdhfdf...

It sounds like your processor is running faster than your graphics card is capable of. You need a graphics (VESA) compattible card with sufficient on board memory to your game specification so that the graphics card can cache and read ahead in time to have the data ready for your processor.
Check out the game hardware requirements that came with your software and it maybe also worth taking a look at this website :- http://www.vesa.org/
To be honest, any NVIDIA #400 series card is pretty low end. GTA 4 is a very very very CPU intensive game though, so I'm wondering if your CPU clock rate is. My best guess is your CPU is trying to buffer the game, and it is not receiving much help. GTA 4 is very poorly optimized. IDK though, a reinstall of some drivers might be needed. Newer graphic drivers do not always necessarily mean better drivers.
