Basically, I installed phpMyAdmin in my host directory (where my website resides) and configured the config file, etc. However, once I try to login to phpMyAdmin I get the following error:
#2002 - The server is not responding (or the local MySQL server's socket is not correctly configured)
1.) Do I need to create a mySQL >Update:
Yes, I do have a mySQL server through my web host.

didn't you ask this like only a few hours ago?
1)Dreamweaver is not a program you'd use to access your database on a server. Its an authoring program. To set up your database, you need to log into your control panel for your website and work from therem
2) In Dreamweaver, your mysql connection script depends on the information provided to you by your webshot. They may not allow remote connection from your home computer (production) to their mysql server. So you'd have to develop all your scripts, pages and upload them to your server in order to test them.

4) The config file for phpmyadmin is straightforward, ONCE you get information from #3
What you are getting is that you are not inputting hte correct username and password to access your mysql database via your scripts.
If you dont know it, contact your webhost or if you have a control panel for your website, see if you can access your mysql database through that, to create a user.

Check all your script before that, it looks like you have text/html being sent to the browser before calling the header() function. The way I usually debug scripts is start commenting out lines of code untill it works, then comment out smaller and smaller sections untill you know where the bug is.
Just a random question but do you have a mySQL server.....if not go to http://www.mysql.com/
