Both regiments have 32 week training. One is air force the other navy.
Can we discern if one is better trained? The RAF Regiment seem to give their soldiers better equipment and look after them a bit better. They use shooting computer simulations and undergo training and tactics that the marines and other infantry units seem to lack.
Update:OK so they both use this stimulator. Which regiment do you think has higher retention of their troops, and which has higher job satisfaction?
Do you tend to get transfers from one to the other, and which way is it based i.e. RAF to RM, or RM to RAF?

If you are referring to the DCCT (Dismounted Close Combat Trainer) then the Army and Royal Marines use them as well. The Army also uses larger simulators for tanks and AFVs in th UK and Europe where a whole battle group can be linked up together. So I think that sort of blows your theory out of the water.
Without being derogatory towards the RAF Regt I would say the Army and Marines are better trained. All Infantry JNCOs and SNCOs are required to attend Battle courses at IBS (Wales) which are regarded as arduous and physically and mentally taxing, The RAF Regt run their own internal courses and whilst i don't dispute their professionalism they cannot possibly compete.
The reason their tactics are different is that they are employed in different roles. Ultimately the RAF Regt are employed to protect our air assets. The infantry are employed in a variety of different roles, Air Assault, Armoured, Mechanised and light role. The Marines also have their own specialisations.
The RAF Regiment is not in the same league as the Royal Marines or the
Infantry no matter how long their training maybe
The royal marines go through more physically and a real life enemy will do nothing like a computer the marines are also far more disciplined and are trained more in ambush and attack than the RAF regiment
It depends on what your view of "better trained" is, everyone doesn't have the same opinion. Personally I would say the RAF Reg is better trained, but the RM actually get to use theirs regularly. All ground troops use the DCCT, and use very similar equipment. I would also like to say that I think the RAF Reg has a better structure, and pretty much everyone who has stayed on Army, RN and RAF bases say that the accommodation and general life quality is best on the RAF.
Two totally different units with different missions. Marines are amphibious assault troops, RAF regt guard airbases. To compare them is madness
i don't no but if you live in uk go on youtube and go on the tv channel's bit and there is this air force afghanistan 6 episode documentary it is really good tells you about everything and it is not a boring documentary
:-) I just wanted to thank Chindit for his support.
PS: I used to have a neighbour who was an actual Chindit in Burma.
