Camel, I am really into that melodic Symphonic Prog sound, and these guys are prime stuff from that. Mirage, Moonmadness, Snow Goose, Rain Dances, and a few others... are all amazing albums, imo.
Can is second, one of the greatest avantgarde bands in existence, certainly more influential than Camel, but less my style, really close though. Tago Mago, and Future Days are the height of Krautrock, and quite different albums indeed.
Caravan I love as well but the other two bands are way too high on my list to compare. Really great jazzy chill Canterbury, sometimes too sloppy in their jamming but they have one of the best atmospheres of any band. In the Land of Grey and Pink is the only near masterpiece though.
But tbh my preferences are all over the place, sometimes I'd much rather listen to a band that I rank lower than bands I rank higher.
I reckon Can because I still blast 'Tago Mago','Soon Over Babaluma' and "Future Days' today and even though I still have some Caravan and Camel on black, they don't get out much. The song Future Days is a particular favourite for me when feelingpissedoff..it stiffens up the spine..AND still sounds great after..30+years..!
K: I highly recommend this band...Tasvallan Presidentti featuring a great guitarist Jukka Tollolen who were around at that time also. Great Stuff !
Well, I'm gonna say Can for originality and innovation. They're way different than all the other classic Krautrock I know.
Then in second comes Camel for putting on a different sound in prog rock. It's hard to describe but I'm sure you know what I mean. I guess symphonic might be a good word? Hmm.
Then Caravan. They're great, but it's damn tough to compared to the other two.
wow isnt music criticism easy? just say you like the early albums. as long as you dont get caught by not knowing how many bands are being compared...
anyway, can. my order is can, followed by caravan followed by camel. to me, can is just far and away the most interesting, weird, out there and innovative. just in a league above the other two bands. caravan is pretty good, nice, chill, jazzy, great organ from dave sinclair. i never got into camel.
i admire all 3 bands... yet i will pass with... Camel, i'm incredibly into that melodic Symphonic Prog sound, and those adult men are severe stuff from that. Mirage, Moonmadness, Snow Goose, Rain Dances, and a pair of others... are all powerful albums, imo. Can is 2d, probably the main preferable avantgarde bands in existence, actually extra beneficial influential than Camel, although much less my variety, incredibly close to even with the undeniable fact that. Tago Mago, and destiny Days are the peak of Krautrock, and comparatively particular albums actually. Caravan i admire as good although diverse 2 bands are suggestions-set too best on my checklist to income. quite superb jazzy take a seat back Canterbury, normally too sloppy of their jamming although they have have been given probably the main passable atmospheres of any band. interior the Land of gray and purple is the only close masterpiece even with the undeniable fact that. yet tbh my possibilities are in all places the area, normally i could lots instead pay interest to a band that I rank decrease than bands I rank bigger.

Can. to be honest, it's because of Can that I even listened to Camel and Caravan in the first place. But I love them all.

Good evening Karl :)
Camel for me
I favour the first 4 albums, but like a selection of songs from across the years, and their "Harbour of Tears" album.
I've never listened to Can, and didn't like what I've heard of Caravan's work.
Can Caravan because they are more innovative than Camel. I think a lot of Prog Rock is following in Can's footsteps.
They're all great, honestly.
If I had to pick a favorite, it'd PROBABLY be Can, but...I can't really decide between the three.
My Band.
