When does Michael VIck get out of jail? Was he a good quaterback for the Atlana Falcons before he was in jail? Do you think he'll be good when he gets out?
Michael Vick was a very good athlete. He was probably the most athletic person at quarterback in the NFL; however, as a quarterback he was a good quarterback but not a great quarterback.
The nice thing about Vick was that he was the most mobile quarterback in the NFL. He could run better than the other quarterbacks. The problem was that he wasn't exceptional at throwing the ball.
The other bad part was that his coach used him all wrong. The coach tried using a triple-option offense. That might have worked for college teams like Nebraska in football, but in the pros you cannot be a 1 dimensional team that relies on just passing or just throwing. You have to be able to do both. Because if you can't do both you become predictable and easier to defend against.
His coaches actually should have worked on making him get better at passing and going to the pass more often. Then the run becomes more unpredictable and with a quarterback like Vick the run in that instance would have been very good.
I think as the NFL evolves the quarterbacks will change slowly from pocket passers like Manning and Brady to ones like Vick, but in order for that to happen the QB must be a great passer first and secondly be a good runner. Being a good runner as a quarterback doesn't mean much if you can't throw the ball really well. And that is why teams like New England and Indy have succeeded with pocket passers while Atlanta hasn't done much.
When I compare Vick to Brady and Manning as athletes I think Vick wins that competition.
But when I compare Vick to Brady and Manning as quarterbacks, Brady and Manning win hands down.
When he gets out I doubt he'll be any good. As Favre stated, you have to really keep your body in shape and really keep up with things or you're out of it. Being out that long is going to make a comeback very hard. And with all of the bad publicity, will a team really want to have him and risk losing a large portion of their fans? Maybe a team that really sucks might who doesn't have a good quarterback at all. Chicago comes to mind.
Michael Vick gets out of jail in 2010 and rumours have swirled that he will be playing football in jail.
Michael Vick was an alright quarterback when it came passing he can bomb it, and throw far and also precision pass, but when it came to running he was an excellent runner. The best thing about Michael Vick is if he scrambles in the pocket and can't find an open receiver he knows to run and a lot of the times he'd get a good amount of yardage.
I predict Michael Vick will be a great quarterback and maybe learn to pass more but also keeps his running skills, but the atlanta falcons signed 2008 3rd round pick Matt Ryan to a 7 year 55 million dollar contract so when Vick comes back don't be surprised to see him get traded.
He was one of the if not most athletic QB in the NFL. Him and Donovan McNabb were the dream QB's back then. Vick was rushing for a 1,000 yards the year before he went to jail. But when he comes out of jail I really don't think it'll be at the quarterback position, at least not with the Falcons. Maybe a runningback.
Yea he was an awesome dual-threat for every team he played against, he could pass and he could run which many defenses couldn't prevent
Career stats 2001-2006:
TD-INT: 71–52
Passing yards: 11,505
QB Rating: 75.7
Rushing yards: 3,859
Rushing TDs:21
Michael Vick could be released from prison in late 2009 or early 2010 (depending on behavior while in prison). After release, a return to professional football would depend upon terms of probation, possible reinstatement by the NFL, his physical condition and finding a potential team. It is possible that any teams considering him at that time would want to look at Vick at other positions
He was a better athlete in general than he was a QB but he was a pretty good QB. I hope he is banned for life and never play in the NFL again but I think he will be reinstated once he starts to whine and cry about not being allowed to make a living or some such nonsense.
He was/Is a GREAT quaterback, he merely didn't HAVE to showcase his throwing ability..he's the ultimate instincetive Quarterback, someoen teasm absolutely feared and was uber tough to catch and keep down.
He has a family history of his talent getting in the way of showing personal responsibility..the dog issue was really only 3/4s his fault.
He will Definitely be good when he gets out..and back for revenge and redemption
Yes. Mike Vick was a good QB. His scrambling was great, his throwing in the designed offense was good. And good for ATL.
However, the way he is designed as a QB he needs to be a West Coast run offense. Then he'll be a great QB.
When he gets out? I think he was just recently released.
I think he should not have gone to jail on those charges. Maybe for not paying taxes, and running a business in a residential neighborhood, and operating a business with out a license. But nothing more.

No!! He was a terrible quarterback. He could not read a defense or pass with accuracy. Why do you think he ran around so much! The truth hurts for all Vick lovers!
Good yes Great no. Vick never could make the big throw to win games. He also wasnt like a brady or manning he didnt make the players around him better. He was a one man show.
I think he was sentenced just under 2 years last November, so he should be out in October 2010. He probably won't make it back to the NFL after he comes back. But yes, he was a good QB before the whole thing.

I think a distinction needs to be made:
