Can I keep my unemployment?
I recently quit my job to take care of my mother who had a stroke till she gets the needed care, I was also receiving unemployments since my hours got cut to part time while i worked. I'm just wondering if I can keep unemployment? I intend on getting back to work asap when my mother gets the needed care. I live in ny.

Unemployment is for people who were fired without cause, and who are actively looking for work, and who are able to go to work if they get a job offer. Since you quit your job, and you won't take a new job until your mother gets her care, no, you don't qualify.
I am not saying that you are wrong to make the choices you did. You're in a tough spot, and I would probably do exactly the same thing. I'm just telling you what the law is.
