I bought the wrong sugar by mistake-will it make a difference to the recipe if I use the darker version or is it best to take a trip to the shops!
Update:Yes oops I know I'm late. But thought it safer to wait until the family (self included) had recovered from all the illnesses & bugs we've had!!!

Hi there.
It will make the cake darker and a little heavier, which may be no bad thing in a Christmas cake!
So you can use it, yes.
Enjoy, Steve.
It may well make your cake mixture darker and it may be a bit sweeter so go and get the proper one and you can use the dark sugar for making Irish Coffees over the Christmas period, or use it for rubbing into a ham before you cook it.......
Well to be honest the dark muscovado sugar is in fact the original sugar. It is extracted from the sugar cane (obviously), but it is the original sugar, so you should replace the light muscovado sugar. Hope this helps :)
It will have no effect other than to make the cake a bit darker - but you're running late - I made mine in September !
It will make no difference other than it will be darker and possibly have a more richer taste. Go ahead and have fun, though hurry up! You are being late on your cake :D
Yeah thats fine!
