if i permanently delete my hotmail (now microsoft) , gmail, or yahoo accounts to get rid of discriminating emails (private messages between friends, hook up buddies, than may be deemed inappropriate) ? or are these emails stored on company servers forever in case i become a celebrity or political leader one day so that these companies can have dirt on everyone to control the world?
i want to delete a certain email account i have permanently, im just wondering if it would truly be deleted from all servers and permanently deleted from planet earth forever

Plan on anything that is on the internet being there forever, and act accordingly. Web based email systems never actually delete anything. If you close your account, it still is there, just inactive. They do this to avoid repeating a user ID. Also, if you used your name for an ID, it can't be hijacked and used by someone else if it is simply deactivated in the system. For all they know, you might want it back someday...

If you put something on the Internet, assume it will always exist somewhere. If you delete the account now, it's not likely anyone would ever dig it up though. They won't know it existed.
Emails are archived basically into forever.
