I slacked off in my freshman and sophomore years, but my junior and senior grades are straight A's. Im getting ready to take my SAT's and im expecting to do petty well (based on my PSATs, and SAT prep classes).
I have nice extra curricular act., and lots of community service.
Can these things offset my average GPA?

The GPA is only one of many factors that is looked upon by colleges. While it in important it is not the end all. Depending on the colleges to which you apply they will think differently about the GPA factor./
Colleges consider the whole package, so having a low SAT score isn't going to automatically lump you into a pile of "undesirables." Your high GPA will probably help you, since the admissions committee will see that you generally do very well in school, but did poorly with this high-pressure standardized test. Extracurriculars count a great deal, particularly if you can show *dedication* and *leadership* (better to be the president of one club than the passive member of three). Talk to your dean/counselor, and see if you can re-take the SAT to get a higher grade. Before you take it again, complete a test prep course with Kaplan or similar group/book.
