Yeah its ok, just remember that the nikon lens D type (ex: 50mm 1.8D great lens for the price by the way), their AF wont work with the D3100 because Nikon didnt put AF motor in their entry DSLR, so if you buy one you'll have to use manual focus. D'ont worry about the new lens, AF work on them.
Lol unbeatable image, well let not get cocky here, the kit lens are not what I would call unbeatable image, they give soft result, better buy the body only and put a Tamron 17-50 2.8 non vc on it than having a 18-55 kit lens with a flexible aperture.
That's a pretty good camera. Many photographers i know want a camera like that but they just can't afford one. Before spending all that cash, go on your local craigslist and look for one there. If your just entering the skill, a 200 dollar one should be good enough.
