I have played pool for over 35 years and I would be very happy if I got a Lucasi as a birthday gift. It was a great choice and you need not worry at all. It takes time to get used to a new cue no matter what it is. Good job , don't sweat it.
Of the two I like Meucci. I have owned a few meuccis in the past and do like how they hit But if I were to buy a new cue and it was going to be a production cue it would be a Predator. For me with the Z2 shaft it is the best hitting cue on the market. esp at its price range Pechauer makes some very nice cues that look like custom cues at a very nice price. They also play well IMO, and he has started adding points into the shafts on some cues which I think looks great on some of the cues
I love my Lucasi, and have no regrets. I have used my son's McDermott, my daughter's Cuetec, and friend's Viking and Meucci, but I like the feel of the Lucasi, and the positive strike. Some cues I have tried feel mushy or overly solid when shooting hard, and some have no touch on a soft shot. The Lucasi is balanced well, and shoots clean. You have done well for yourself, in my opinion.

I agree with the other answers. It is a good choice for the money spent.
