My 12 year old cat's eyelids are turning brown after being treated with Hartz flea drops.?

Our 12 yr old neutered male cat, Simon the Pie Man, was treated with Hartz Advanced Care 4 in 1 Flea and Tick Drops Plus+ two days ago. We have always used Frontline or Advantix but my aunt gave me these flea drops to use. Only after Pie Man's behavior changed ( light muscle spasms, twitching, lethargy) did I search the net for some answers. What I found appalled me- Hartz knows they are selling poison, and still the shelves are still stocked with it. I have noticed his back muscles twitching, and he seems to be less active today. Everywhere I have looked, people say to bathe the cat to wash away the rest of the poison, so we did. He seems to have his usual balance and does not seem to be in pain. What bothers me is that his upper and lower eyelids have turned brown. The edges of his eyes have always been very pink, but both top and bottom eyelid are chocolatey brown now. Could this discoloration be caused by organ failure?

Kidney and liver failure are linked to flea drops ( Permethran poisoning ) commonly found in Hartz products apparently. These are not the drops we are familiar with, and will warn everyone we can about the dangers of this product.

What I'm asking is whether there is anything more I can do for him tonight? He has been bathed with medicated shampoo and dried. He is squinting like his eyes hurt, and he's really not one to voice his discomfort.

He did eat a little dry food. I'm not sure about the water intake, but I'm going to keep a keen eye on him.

Hopefully he didn't absorb too much before we got it off him.

What do you think? Is there anything else we can do?

Actualizar:

I just got off the phone with an emergency vet from my home state. They said to wash him with Dawn, and he needs to be seen, but I live in rural Tennessee and there are no vets open until Monday. They don't know anything about his eyelid edges turning brown. Has anyone heard of this?
