My grandma gave me and my dad an old guitar that used to belong to my great grandpa i think. Today my dad tried to tune it but he said he couldnt. He said something about the thing being so old that the strings were already so tite that they couldnt reach their correct pitch. Is there any way to fix it?Whats wrong with it?

It doesn't sound so bad to me, but I would probably try to take off the strings and take it to a guitar tech or someone who works at a guitar shop to probably adjust the neck. As long as the guitar is in relatively good condition I believe it's fixable. Are you trying standard EADGBe tuning? Any higher than E or F sharp is too much tension. Hope this helps, but just relieve the tension by loosening the strings. Hope you can fix the problem!! :)
