Has anyone ever had a cyst? What signs did you have, what tests does the doctor do and do they hurt, and how was it treated? I keep having pains on my ride side of my stomach, usually around the time before I get my period. I was taking ortho tricylen lo for 2 years and started having irregular periods in June since I got strep throat and took medications for it, I was advised to stop my pills unitl my vistit to the gyn in a few weeks and I'm just worried.

I have cyst on my overies they found it through blood work but i told them i wanted an ultra sound which is easy.. you just have to drink alot of water and have to pee. They can't really be cured. you can take birth control to help shrink them
The symptoms i have....
severe pelvic pain that radiates to my lower back and down my thighs.
bloated tummy
nauseous
severe cramping
abdominal pressure (i wasn't sure if it was my bladder or bowels)
feeling full in bladder, still pressure in my pelvic AFTER I urinate (not pain during urination)
Those are some of the symptoms I'm dealing with. My urine and blood work both came back normal. However, the pain still persisted and got worse, like a stabbing deep in my pelvic/groin area. I delt with pain for 3 weeks (stubborn) and finally went to the GYN after my blood work and urine came back normal. She sent me for a pelvic ultrasound which showed 2 cysts.
I am currently still waiting (it's only been a couple of days) for my GYN to call me back today to discuss how to handle this.
also, the ultrasound Doctor told me that the pain gets A LOT worse when you ovulate, because a lot of women get lil cysts that break around that time.
My pain has since radiated to my right side mostly and down my butt and thigh >:[ and it hasn't stopped.. for now, I was given Tylenol 3 (codine) to help the pain, it works somewhat, but only for a short time. Once the meds wear off, the pain is back..
If your pain gets worse, you should see your doctor and not wait 3 weeks... Trust me, it WILL get worse. And hopefully not rupture.. If that's what you do have.
I would request a pelvic ultrasound, just to be sure... good luck
They do a simple ultrasound. It's not at all painful. Treatment depends on the severity and type of cyst. There's no reason to worry until you know if there's actually something wrong.
Cysts can vary quite a lot. Some you never know are there. They can come and go on their own. Some can cause pain. Some can be quite large and have to be removed surgically. I had problems with them from my teens til I also have mine ovaries removed when I had a hysterectomy many years later. Daughter inherited my PCO.
