The Inca Lounge. At the base of the escalerata, walk about one city block down the gravel road to the left. Otherwise, go up the escalerata about half way. There is a cool pub on the left. Go to the top and one door to the right is a bar with great views. You can see the glass rooftop terrace from the top on Hermano Miguel. Or, at the top of the stairs take a right and go about two blocks. There is a cafe across the street on the corner which has a lively afternoon action. A good place to stay is the Villa Nova Inn, at the base of the stairs to the old city, about three doors to the right. Rates are very reasonable, rooms are clean, beds are good and English is spoken. The young black man at the front desk speaks very well.
