Im cooking avena which is puerto rican oatmeal and the instructions say when its cooked take it out the pot but how will i know when its cooked?
As soon as it boils, take the temperature down to low and set a timer to 3 minutes, - keep stirring - when the timer rings, it is done.
I take it off the burner, keep it in the pot, stirring it every now and then for 5 minutes and THEN it is ready to be served....
If served immediately after being taken off the burner is way too hot....
