What is the best way to clean stainless steel pots and pans.
Especially when they have tough stuck on food.
I know with teflon and stuff you can't use scrubbers like SOS pads because it'll ruin the pan. Is that true for stainless steel as well?
Thanx a lot.

Nah...you can use SOS, Brillo, etc. with no problem. I prefer Brillo Pads (SOS, whatever) on SS b/c it gives a great shine as well as cleaning.
I do suggest you follow your scrubber-use with regular dishwashing detergent, and LOTS of hot water to rinse, to remove the chemical cleaning agents the scrubber leaves behind.
If you have copper-bottomed pans, that get dark stains from water, flames, heating elements, etc, SOS & Brillo pads works wonders on the copper-coated areas as well.
I suggest soaking your SS pots&pans that have stuck-on foods before you clean, with either DW Liquid or the "soapy" element of scrubber pads first...simply makes clean-up easier.
Teflon is a plastic, that is why you can't use abrasive cleaners or SOS pads on them.
Stainless steel is very hard and durable as long as you don't use a sharp scraper on its edge, you should be able to be very aggressive in cleaning them.
Try adding a little dish detergent and enough water to cover the stuck on food by a couple of inches and put on a very low heat. Occasionally, stir and try to scrape from the bottom and sides. When you have removed as much as possible, wash as usual.
Are you talking about the inside or outside. Anyway I like to use sos pads. For the inside if stuff is stuck really bad, fill with water and dawn, or water and vinegar and bring to s boil. If really bad simmer for awhile.
Sounds like alot of trouble but you won't scratch them all up.
you can use sos pads on stainless steal to scrub your pots and pans so go have a ball.good luck.
