I'm looking for a DSLR camera, but it's a lot cheaper buying the Body only - no lense.
But i have an SLR camera (one that uses film) with quite a few lenses.... so can one of those lenses work on a DSLR camera?
Thanks!

For as long as they are the same lens mount and camera make.
It needs to be the correct size and make for t he camera. You can use third party lenses as long as the size is correct and is listed as usable. You can always get a third party lens on Ebay for next to nothing with shipping included. Is it as good as the brand name, depends on the quality of that lens.
You can also check out great sales at retailers online for DSLR kits which often come with a starter lens. Canon uses 18-55mm with the Rebel series. Excellent camera.
I would answer your question, but since you did not even include the camera and lenses you currently have and the camera body you are thinking of buying, your question cannot be answered.
By the way, the singular of lenses is lens.
If your lenses are the Canon EF series, then you can mount them on any current Canon DSLR. Older FD lenses won't work.
If your lenses are Pentax KX series, then you can mount them on any current Pentax DSLR. Older M42 screw mount lenses will only work in manual mode with an adaptor.
If your lenses are Minolta or Minolta/Konica AF, then you can mount them on any current Sony DSLR. Older Minolta SRT lenses won't rok.
If your lenses are Nikon AF or AF-S le lenses, then you can mount them on any current Nikon DSLR. The AF series won't autofocus on e try level Nikons, but eh AF-S will. Older Nikon non-autofocus lenses will all mount on any current Nikon DSLR, but with different degrees of metering and electronic coupling.
Email me with what 35mm SLR you have, the lenses you use and I can be more specific about which camera bodies will allow you to use your current lens collection.
