Nah, I highly doubt he'll make the squad this season. He plays a similar game to Tomas Kaberle, Joni Pitkanen, and Jamie McBain, except that he is smaller and shoots more. He will likely be better than McBain and may lead to McBain being traded, but I don't think that happens this season. There are also Tim Gleason, Bryan Allen, Derek Joslin, and Jay Harrison on the Canes D. Add on Justin Faulk and Bobby Sanguinetti competing for a spot, and Murphy has even more competition.

Nope, Murphy doesn;t have as many openings, isn't skilled enough on his stickhandling and has a different dimension than Skinner.
