I have a MacBook pro that's is about 2-3 years old. It was passed down to me and I have reinstalled osx several times but it doesn't seam to help. When I back up from time machine I get all the junk again that I don't need. The only thing I want to keep is my music (35gb) and pictures (45gb). How can I have a fresh copy of lion with only my music and pictures on it? I dont need all the other junk!

Well you need to copy music and pictures somewhere then! Erase/reformat drive then reinstall the OS from the DVD!
Oh and check out your nearest Mac User Group!

Too bad people with windows can't spell! LoL!
I take it the MacBook is currently restored with all the audio/image files you have. The simplest solution now is that you backup the folders containing the audio/image files to the external hard drive (meaning: simply copy them over via the Finder instead of using TimeMachine), then install a clean OS X system. After that you just copy those folders back into their original location. The folders (e.g. Music, Photos, Documents, Download) are located within your user home folder.
