I have had random audio advertisements playing on my computer for some time now. They range from tide commercials to movie previews. When I use google and I click on a search result, it takes me to weird places like medical forums or yellow-pages online. We have to log on and log off to use the computer because leaving it idle on windows allows the advertisements to play and it puts a huge load on the ram after a few hours. The computer is only 1 year old, it is an HP with windows vista and I use Norton Internet Security. I DO NOT want to download any kind of anti-virus/malware/adware etc. programs.

without downloading a tool to find and solve the problem then just how else are you going to get rid of the problem,
we can't tell you how to repair your computer without knowing what it is that is causing the problem.
it could have hidden files Etc...Etc...
there is no other way
you will have to download and install a program that will help you solve the problem.
I suggest you run a scan with malwarebytes .
http://www.malwarebytes.org/
you can get malwarebytes here,
this is a direct download link
so you should have no trouble getting it.
click on this link ↓ and then select run.
http://www.malwarebytes.org/affiliates/2-spyware/m...
INSTALL IT TO YOUR DESKTOP, update it,
then run a full scan and remove everything it finds.
some viruses will try to disable it
so if malwarebytes will not start up/install
save it to your desktop,
before you save Malwarebytes', rename it to something like XXXX.exe and then click on Save and save it to your desktop. Same thing after you install it. Before running it, rename the main executable file first
if it still will not install,
Right-click on the mbam-setup.exe file and change the .exe extension to .bat, .com, .pif, or .scr and then double-click on it to run.
If after installation, MBAM will not run, open the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware folder in Program Files, right-click on mbam.exe and change the .exe as noted above. Then double-click on it to run..
after you have used malwarebytes then do this online scan.
to make sure you have nothing else hiding away.

preferably in safe mode with networking.
if you will not download and install malwarebytes then
good luck with that totally useless commercial crap called norton.
Well, some kind of malware/adware got past Norton internet security (I call norton a virus myself, personally...). The problem with security is that they are always one step behind the bad guys. No matter how good your antivirus is, there's something out there that can get around it. Even with virus protection, you will mostly likely still get a virus unless you are extremely careful.
This virus has infected your computer. You'll have to find the infected files and remove them. There is no way that Norton will do it now, so you MUST download some other program that will detect the virus. Good luck.
If your Norton program includes anti-virus, you can run a scan and the problem may show up. If it doesn't, you can go to: Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore. Choose a restore point from before the problem occurred. If that doesn't work, you can always undo the restore.
You can download an anti-virus program, correct the problem, and uninstall the program afterwards if you don't want to keep it.
It's a good question
Install the ABP plug in, in your firerox browser (Ad Blocker Plus).
If you are using Google Chrome, delete it, that will slow your machine down tremendously.
Good question, hope you find your answer
