I see ";" in English a lot. I don't know when to use it or how to use it. Can you give me examples? Thanks.
You use it if somebody speaks or your quoting from somewhere or if you mention titles etc. If you don't quote something it is seen as plagiarism. E.g. 'Where are the keys?' said mum.
If you have a sentence and the two ideas of the sentence don't have anything to do with each other. Example:
I walked my dog Lucy; she has blue eyes
