U expect a player to come from college and lead a team of NFL veteran

I understand if the team a round him is good like Big ben
but he didn't start at first he was forced too
when u give them time to learn they will be good
look at Carson Palmer, Mike Vick and Eli Manning
(Philip rivers is gonna be good too)
but as for david carr, alex smith, and joey harington WTF?
I mean u should expect to lose doing stupid stuff like that
u can at least have an insurance poicy( a proven back up)

Starting a rookie QB is a desperation act done by coaches as an attempt to turn their teams around before they get fired. Really. Joey Harrington? Steve Marriucci. Tried to save the Loins by drafting a QB and starting him. QB's need time to get to know the players, the system and the different rules the NFL works by.

It really depends on that individual. Someone like Marino, Peyton Manning, McNabb then yea I would throw them out there. Most college QB's are not ready to start even with a good team behind them so any smart GM should have a proven veteran on the roster to train and teach the new guys.
Because usually the teams with the highly rated rookie quarterback suck badly and coaches throw them out on the field to appease the fans who are tired of a terrible team. Of course it only makes things worse for the team when their rookie qb throws 4 picks and gets injured.
Well if you start a rookie QB...they'll get more confortable faster...and you can look ahead to the next season, when they'll probably succeed...other than that...it's probably not wise to use a rookie QB...except in Tennessee's case this year...they got Vince Young...and well Billy Volek is alright...but the team sucks...so why not start a rookie at QB....and hope to do better in 07....that's what I would do anyway.
I guess I would play a rookie QB to get him some experience, but only for a few games. I think it is a dumb concept and coaches do this to please G.M.'s who don't want to look like fools for drafting a bust quarterback so high. I'm from Michigan and people here absolutely hate Joey Harrington
It's a risk, but it can work out great. Plus they'll develop really quick. Why have a high draft pick rookie get paid a ton of money to sit the bench, put him in, and see what happens.
