Hello! I bought this 2006 Chevy LTZ about 5 years ago new. It is fully loaded with every option, XM, Leather, Power Seats, Remote Start, Alarm, 3.9l V6 (I think its 3.9 ...its the biggest engine under the SS) ...it has everything. I have put 20,000 on this car to date and the problem I am having is with the keyless entry remote. The range on this thing is pathetic, it has been since new. I have to be within 4-5 feet of the drivers door and hit unlock, lock, etc a couple times to get it to work. I never said anything because I assumed Chevy just had crappy remotes, until I saw someone in the parking lot the other day unlock their Impala from 200 feet away. Whats wrong!!!!??? Both of my remotes do this. Its a real pain in the you know what. My VW locks, unlocks, etc from almost 700ft. Please Help!

A weak battery is a good chance 6 years is a long time. You may also try a trick we have been taught get right beside the car and hold the lock and unlock buttons at the same time for 20 seconds the doors should lock and unlock this re sequences the remotes to the car.
Impala Ltz 2006
It's a problem with the antenna. It is located in the windshield at the top of the roof line. My friend was having the same problem and he took it in. They fixed it under the warranty. It is a very common problem with those Impala's. Talk to the dealer and see what they can do for you.
Nicholas,
I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue. The person you say could have had a different remote than you did. I encourage you to visit your Chevrolet dealership to confirm if this is normal or not.
Thank you

get a new battery, the battery may be weak and that would cause it not to work from far away. go to like an autozone or pep boys and get a new battery
