I've mostly hunted coons, duck and rabbit. So my question is how effective would a 9mm be against an elk, deer or alligator, I wish to hunt all of these and I am aware of the legal process for my state. Thanks

9mm Pistol round? I wouldn't even try it. You're going to need a lot more stopping power and range to take down any of those.
Not to mention shot placement.
For once, I agree with Mackin.
9mm Parabellum is next to worthless for hunting. It's also illegal in most jurisdictions for hunting. Since you didn't list where you live, I'm going to assume that you are NOT "aware of the legal process for [your] state," or you'd know that.
9mm Parabellum creates about 400 foot-pounds of energy at the muzzle from a pistol, and perhaps 500 foot-pounds from a carbine. That is fine for a "survival" gun, where you are in a life or death situation, but it's completely inhumane for hunting deer or elk.
One more thing: where do you live that has elk AND alligator? And both are legal for hunting...? I'm calling BS on that one unless you can prove that such a place exists.
* The 9mm is not Recommended or Legal for Hunting Elk, Deer, or Gator.*...
Its no more effective than a plastic spoon is to a steak.
