computer self destruct?
at school some boys were messing about they switched a small square red button on the back there was a huge bang soot came out the back and there was smoke and it stank. Was that a self destruct button or what?

Sounds like they were messing with the voltage switch on the back of the power supply. Most power supplys have this switch shielded to prevent such things from happening.
