Erasing data on computer problems?
I'm trying to erase all of the >Update:
i don't want to delete all of the programs on the computer, but i want to erase everything personal on the computer. such as document, pictures, things like that.
the computer is being sold in a garage sale, and we want to delete everything having to do with my family and i on it. so basically we want the computer to return to its original state when it was first purchased.

Erasing all the data, as in, completely wiping it, including windows?
The easiet way to do this is to use a program like partition magic or your windows install disk.
Insert the disk, then go to run, and type msconfig. There will be an option that says boot from a disk.
Then restart your PC and follow the instructions.
